L'IDEA:
Una sala "ibrida", moderna con elementi barocchi, tutto unito da colori e forme. Uno spazio aperto e comunicante tra sala, sala da pranzo e cucina.
I COLORI:
Arredi lilla su pareti viola scuro. Qualche piccolo dettaglio bianco e giallo. Cromo e argento si alternano. Molte trasparenze e specchi per alleggerire lo spazio.
An "hybrid" hall, modern with barock elements, all merged by colours and shapes. An open space between hall, diding room and kitchen.
COLOURS:
Lilhac furnitures on dark violet walls. Some little detail in white and yellow. Chrome & silver. Several transparents and mirrors to reduce the optycal "weight" of the ambient.
1. IL DIVANO
Divano angolare in stile barocco, anno 1960circa, rivestimento in pelle marrone, lavorazione capitonee, 5 posti.

Le bullette che utilizzerò hanno un diametro di 10mm. La loro superficie è stata nickelata e successivamente cromata. Necessito di circa 40m : 56Euro + spedizione + assicurazione + versamento (acquistati in U.K.) Costo totale:84Eur

Divano a casa, il giorno dell'acquisto.
Si presenta in buone condizioni generali, la struttura in legno è solida ed integra, prima patina, nessun punto ammaccato o danneggiato. Lo schienale in capitonee è perfetto e le imbottiture rigogliose e non sformate. Unici difetti il bracciolo sull' estremità sinistra (punto di riferimento: soggettiva una volta seduti) e condizioni dei cuscini (sedute), mediamente tutti molto rovinati.
First pic shooted by me, with couch at home. The sofa was in general good conditions, the wooden structure is solid and complete, original layer transparent paint, no damaged areas. The capitonnee backrest is perfect and the stuffings profuse and not out of shape. Only defects: the left armrest and the sitting cushions, all really damaged.
Prima cosa: carteggiare COMPLETAMENTE tutta la montatura, sia nei punti difficili, sia nei posti nascosti. NON pensare mai cose del tipo "tanto non si vede". Il tutto stando BENE attenti a non rovinare (=smussare o modificare) le lavorazioni. Ho utilizzato anche dello "sverniciatore denso", un acido molto potente il cui utilizzo è sconsigliato se si tratta del vostro primo utilizzo. E' una sostanza molto nociva e molto violenta (sia per voi che per il divano). Se lo utilizzate non lasciatelo penetrare in profondità del legno. Tempo necessario, con buona manualità ed infaticabile costanza: circa 40ore. Il legno una volta sverniciato appare molto chiaro, con piacevoli sfumature, che danno un effetto molto antico.
First step: to sand ALL the wooden structure,also in hidden and difficoult areas. NEVER think "no one will never see that area.." I used also an acid to unpaint.. Avoid it if would be your first utilization. It's really a strong product and dangerous to your health and to your couch. If you decide to use it, don't let it go inside in the wood, it has only to be applied on the outer surface. The wood, once unpainted, appears really in a light tone, with nice shading which give to it an ancient effect.
Seconda cosa:
Rimozione di tutti i chiodini (termine tecnico: "bullette")
Sono varie centinaia. E' un'operazione lunga e noiosa, è importante non perdere precisione lungo il processo se non si vuole rovinare la montatura facendo leva.
Esiste in commercio un piccolo piede di porco apposito (17Euro in misura media) ed è utile allo scopo. Come vedete le bullette sono composte da una striscia flessibile. Ogni 5 bullette una è forata, per permettere il passaggio di un chiodo.
Tempo per rimozione: circa 4ore.
Second step:
Removal of all the mails. The technical name to indicate these nails is "bullets". They are several hundreds. Ia a long and boring operation, during which you've to be carefull never loosing precision, if you don't want to damage the wooden-structure while you're levering.
There's in commerce a specifici tool, a sort of "pry", created for nails removal. As you can see all the nails are composed by a flexible strip. Every 5 bullets, one is holed, to let the passage of a nail.
All the removal required about 4hours.
Terza cosa: Rimozione delle zanchette. Ho tristemente saputo (direttamente parlando con un tappezziere) che in molti del mestiere semplicemente tagliano con un cutter la pelle lungo tutto il bordo, lasciando la pelle contenente le zanchette sulla montatura in legno. Questo per motivi di tempo, pazienza e riduzione dei costi. Con quel metodo, l'operazione non richiede più di 5 o 10minuti..Trattandosi del MIO divano, ho deciso di rimuovere ogni zanchetta. Sono migliaia ed occorre armarsi di pazienza, proprio per non diventare grossolani o indelicati e rischaire di rovinare la montatura in legno. Essendo vecchie, estrandole MOLTO spesso una gamba delle 2 si spezza, rimanendo infilata nel legno. Ho preferito rimuovere anche queste estremità di modo che la pelle sopra non rischierà di rovinarsi. Tempo dell'operazione: circa 16ore. Togliendo manualmente ogni zanchetta abbiamo anche modo di scoprire se il divano era stato precedentemente rivestito.
Third step: Staples removal. I've sadly discovered, talking with an upholsterer, that most of them simply cut the leather along all the trim, leaving the part of the leather containing the staples on the wood structure... This is due to patience, time and cost reduction... That operation requires no more than 5 or 10minutes.. Being MY couch I've decided to remove each staple. They are some thousands and it's important to be patient, to avoid damaging the wood. Since these staples were really old, trying to remove them, often one of the 2 legs (of the staple) got broken and remained inside the wood. I've preferred remove also those broken legs, because I was afraid that they could damage the upper layer of leather, with time. This operation required 16hours. Removing each staples you've also the chance to discover if the couch had been previously covered or not.
Per il rivestimento ho pensato ad una similpelle. Il motivo per cui non ho scelto una vera pelle, non è economico ma ideologico. Ho scelto una similpelle molto bella, anche al tatto, elastica ma non troppo, resistente. La migliore che ho trovato è opaca e si è rivelata anche ottima alla "prova chiodo". La tinta (in quadricromia= è di circa 11,19,0,0 (codice esadecimale: #DECDEC). Il costo era di circa 15Euro al metro quadro. Superficie necessaria: 40 metri quadri. Costo: 600 Euro
For the covering I've thought to an eco-leather (called also "sky leather"). The reason why I've not choosen a true leather is not due to its cost. I've choosen a good-looking eco-leather, comfortable at touch, elastic but not too much, thick, strong. The best one I've found is opaque and revealed to be good also at the "nail test" (you try to scar and damage it with a leather, to view its resistance). The tint (in CMYK) is about 11,19,0,0 (exadecimal code: #DECDEC). The cost is 15Eur for 1square meter. Needed surface: 40m². Total amount: 600 Eur.
Dopo aver rimosso bullette e zanchette il pellame resta ancorato al divano solo tramite i bottoni passanti (170 in tutto). Come potete vedere si tratta di bottoni in alluminio rivestito con la stessa pelle del divano. In commercio ho trovato dei bottoni "vergini" (in alluminio senza rivestimento) e l'apposito macchinario per ricorprirli, ma ho optato per un'altra soluzione...
After that I had removed the bullets and the staples, the leather was still linked to the couch by the buttons. They were 170 aluminium buttons, covered with the same main brown leather of the sofa. I've found for-sale "virgin" buttons (like this, but still to be covered with leather) and the specific toold to cover them, but I've preferred another solution...
Ho optato per dei bottoni Swarovski ®. Sebbene sia stato MOLTO difficile, ho trovato dei bottoni da 16mm di diametro in tinta "Ametiste chiaro". Normalmente i bottoni in Swarovski hanno diametri ridotti, intorno ai 6mm (e costi di 16Euro cadauno). Per le misure sopra i 12/14mm è necessaria in genere l'ordinazione ma, anche se si tratta di venditori autorizzati, difficilmente troverete tinte che non siano "Cristallo" (=trasparente), "Cristallo AB" (un cristallo cangiante, molto carino ma non adatto al mio divano) e "Jet" (un colore molto scuro, praticamente nero). Dopo aver visionato le gamme colori Swarovski ® e contattato anche tutti i venditori certificati esteri per essere certo di aver considerato tutte le tinte disponibili, ho optato per "Ametiste chiaro". Risulta come il colore della mia similpelle, ma solamente un po' più intenso. Considerato che i bottoni vengono posti in una zona d'ombra del capitonee, uno Swarovski ® leggermente più scuro ed intenso aiuterà a darmi un senso di rilieveo , mentre uno chiaro avrebbe "spezzato" troppo. Quantità acquistata: 7 scatole, ognuna da 30bottoni. Per un totale di 180 bottoni (2 di scorta). Costo di ogni bottone: 34Euro al pubblico, sconto vista quantità: 25Euro cad/1.
I've choosen Swarovski ® buttons. It has been really hard, but finally I found 16mm diameter buttons in "light Amethyst" tint. Normally Swarovski buttons have small diameters, about 6mm (and price for each one: 16Eur). For the size over 12/14mm generally is needed a reservation but, even if they're authorized sellers, hardly you'll find colours different from "Crystal" (=transparent) or "Clear AB" or "Jet" (=almost black) in these sizes. I valued all the possible tints, also from foreign countries, and I choosed for the Light Amethyst. It's like the leather-colour, but more intense. Considering that buttons are placed in a shadow area, they will help to give a sense of deepness. Clear buttons would have been too "striking". I had to bought 7 boxes, each one composed by 30buttons. Total buttons:170 (2 sopare). Cost for each one: 34Euro to public, discount seen the large quantity: 25Euros each one.
Ecco un dettaglio del bottone. E' un modello Rivoli, diametro 16mm. Ho scelto questo modello perchè non ha i fori frontali, a vista. Ho comprato dei bottoni "griffati" non è dovuta a commercialità o altro... semplicemente ho valutato delle soluzioni più economiche e devo ammettere che la qualità era decisamente inferiore. Trattandosi poi di materiali plastici o di vetri tinteggiati, in futuro avrei rischiato un'opacizzazione o uno scolorimento dei bottoni. Il cristallo invece mi permette un'ottima qualità e fattura ed una resistenza pressochè illimitata...
Here you can see a button close-up. It's a Rivoli model, 16mm diameter. I've choosen this model because it has no frontal holes. I've bought famous and expensive buttons only for a reason: I've considered also cheap solutions, but quality was really not as required. Buying a plastic buttons or tinted-glass ones, in future they probably would have became opaque (=not shiny) or else loosing colour... Instead real crystal offers a good qualirt and practically-unlimited resistance ...
Per la montatura ho optato per una vernice nitro zolor ZINCO. Soluzione un po' "kitch" eppure secondo me (dopo numerosi studi cromatici durati svariate settimane) è l' UNICA adeguata all' AMBIENTE che sto per realizzare. Se il mio obiettivo fosse stato solo produrre un bel divano, sicuramente non avrei scelto un colore simile, in quanto avrebbe rischiato di "impoverire" la montatura. Una volta sverniciata e carteggiata era di un'apprezzabile tinta chiara, con venature a vista, le quali conferivano alle lavorazioni un senso di antico, autentico, ricercato. Fondo, vernici e protettivi: 95€ circa
For the wooden structure I've choosen a nitro paint, in Zynch tint. This solution is a little "vulgar" but (after long chromatic test, lasted for weeks) I really thought it was the ONLY one correct for the WHOLE HALL I am going to realize. If my target was only to restore/restyle a good sofa, surely I would not had choosen this colour, since it risked to impoverish the structure, too "plastic" and "fake". I would have let the wood in its origina light tone, after the sanding. The costs of paint (base,main,protective) has been 95Eur.

2. LE COLONNE
Una delle 2 colonne a torciglione che si troveranno ai bordi del divano. Entrambe già riverniciate color bianco gesso.
5,7,8,9. AREA PRANZO
Ecco una bozza realizzata molto velocemente di ciò che intendo realizzare.
- Tappeto peloso, moderno color viola scuro. Colore un po' desaturato, non troppo aggressivo, altrimenti troppo pacchiano.
- Pareti nere opache.
- Sedie trasparenti victoria ghost. Saranno sei. Quattro disposte sul lato lungo (2 e 2) e le due capotavola.
- Lampadario trasparente a 10 luci.
- Piano tavolo nero opaco con leggera trama tipo legno (laminato pvc). Misura ottimale 80x180cm.
- Sul bordo del piano del tavolo 2 (o tre) serie di specchietti tagliati a laser, in modo da creare un punto luce ed un effetto quasi di profilo a "diamante".
Struttura tubolare cromata che funge da basamento.
- La base vera e propria starà SOTTO al tappeto (per questo il tappeto dovrà essere forato, in modo che il basamento sarà passante, come da anteprima). Così si avrà l'impressione di un tavolo leggero, otticamente, senza però perdere stabilità. Sotto al tappeto vi sarà una grossa piastra piana in metallo. Attorno alla piastra ci sarà un altro tappeto (a pelo corto, compatto) tagliato con la sagoma della piastra. Questo per creare uno spessore che porti tutto allo stesso livello, senza avere la spiacevole vista del rilievo dovuto alla piastra sottostante il tappeto.
- Ancora sotto esame la possibilità di creare 10 piccoli paralumi, per il lampadario. Nel caso il colore sarà un lilla esterno ed un giallo taxi all'interno, in modo anche che la luce che raggiungerà in modo diretto il tavolo sarà più calda e soft.
8. LAMPADARIO
Lampadario classico a 10 Luci, in metacrilato trasparente e candele cromate. Diametro 75cm.

10. CUCINA
La cucina sarà completamente a specchio, in modo da creare un ambiente ancora più "lungo" ed adattarsi ai colori ricercati della sala. La foto mostra la macchina da caffè in stile impero.
